Before Trefadder can plant climate forests in an area, several public bodies must be involved. The county governor, the municipality and the business organizations draw up guidelines for planting areas. The municipality must identify and approve the areas, and define any conditions. The landowner can only apply for a grant once the measure has been implemented. Within the current framework conditions in forestry, therefore, very little afforestation is taking place on new areas. Planting mainly takes place after final felling in spruce forests.
Trefadder only choose to use areas that do not conflict with other important natural values, cultural heritage or protected areas. The climate forests are only established on areas where the forest owner has the opportunity to manage and care for the forest. Municipal forestry management will then control all planting areas.
