4. Commercial Model
Trefadder AS is Norway's largest producer of biological climate credits. But how is natural carbon removal transformed into a credible and tradable product?
This was one of the key challenges during Trefadder’s early development. Access to the Norwegian Environment Agency’s extensive climate forestry research program (2013 to 2019) provided a critical foundation and opened doors to one of the world’s leading climate advisory environments — KPMG Canada.
KPMG Canada advises both governments and corporations on the development of climate projects and is trusted by major investment funds to assess and verify large-scale nature-based carbon initiatives.
Since 2020, Trefadder and KPMG Canada have collaborated to establish the commercial framework for climate forestry in Norway — enabling long-term carbon removal to be issued as high-quality, verifiable climate credits.
