Hagalid farm
Norway's first commercial climate forest
On July 4, 2019, the historic Hagalid Farm in Hjelmeland became home to Norway's first commercial climate forest. The Hagalid family has run the 5000-acre farm for 16 generations, and the farm has become a regional center in Hjelmeland municipality with its sunny location, fertile soil, and abundant hunting and fishing opportunities.
Today's generation, Rasmus and Birgit Hagalid, both have master's degrees in forestry and considerable expertise in most forest-related fields. This knowledge has been crucial for Trefadders establishment of Norway's first commercial climate forest, and we have greatly benefited from their forestry expertise and trust throughout the entire process.
Trefadder organizes annual customer trips to Hagalid Farm, where our customers have the opportunity to visit the forest they have helped to plant, while also participating in new planting projects and experiencing the farm's unique nature.
