Restoration of deciduous forests

Once, large parts of Norway were covered in lush deciduous forest, especially rich in beautiful oak trees, which were preferred for shipbuilding, among other things. Today, much of this forest is gone, but Trefadder has a strong focus on restoring this lost oak forest.

In collaboration with landowner Arild Omestad, Trefadder initiate one of Norway's largest restoration projects of hardwood forests, with a potential of 6000 acres. The first planting will begin in the fall of 2024, and we have ambitions for a significant scale-up in the future, with the planting of a wide range of tree species.

It is wonderful to see landowners like Omestad Farm making their areas available for such projects, which will maximize biodiversity in the forest and help preserve the natural heritage for future generations.
