What we do

Verified carbon credits

Trefadder generates nature-based carbon removal by developing Norwegian climate forests in close collaboration with local farms.

This carbon removal is issued as verified climate credits for businesses seeking to offset residual emissions that cannot currently be eliminated.

Nature and Biodiversity Initiatives

In addition to reforestation, Trefadder engages in a range of forest-based restoration efforts, including the protection of old forests, kelp forest restoration, oak reforestation and habitat enhancement projects.

These environmental initiatives are available to companies looking to support biodiversity and ecosystem resilience in Norwegian landscapes.

This is how it works

Captured CO₂ is converted into climate credits, where 2 tonne of CO₂ equals 1 climate credit. These credits are used by companies to offset residual emissions that cannot currently be eliminated due to technological or economic limitations. Businesses can choose to offset all or part of their operations.

Trefadder issues a climate certificate based on the verified carbon removal your company has contributed to. All corporate partners receive a dedicated environmental profile page, providing a clear visual representation of their climate compensation.

We also provide QR codes linking directly to your certificate or profile page, which can be used in your company’s marketing and sustainability communications.

Sæther farm, Surnadalen

Trefadder and the Sæther family have had a successful partnership for several years, which has resulted in more than 300.000 trees planted. This will bind tens of thousands of tons of CO₂ and has also helped create many jobs along the way. Although the forest grows naturally, it requires regular supervision, measures and care to ensure that the values…

Invest in Nature-Based Solutions

Nature is our most powerful ally in addressing both climate change and the emerging biodiversity crisis. Trefadder has launched a range of initiatives designed to strengthen nature’s ability to resist and recover from environmental pressures.

These projects are divided into three categories: broadleaf forests, coniferous forests, and mixed woodland. Trefadder’s concept is designed to promote tree planting for the benefit of nature and biodiversity.

Support our nature and environmental projects

Trefadder and BAHR have jointly developed Norway's first commercial framework for the voluntary protection of old-growth forests. This pioneering model offers landowners a financially viable alternative to logging while safeguarding ecologically valuable forest areas for future generations.

Support our nature and environmental projects

Many bird species in Norway are struggling to find safe nesting grounds. Trefadder is addressing this challenge by installing thousands of bird boxes along key migratory routes. This initiative supports threatened bird populations and helps preserve their role in the Norwegian ecosystem.

Support our nature and environmental projects

Together with our partners, Trefadder has launched Norway’s largest kelp forest restoration initiative. Our goal is to restore these vital underwater ecosystems while contributing to significant CO₂ removal from the atmosphere.
