Archer

Large oil service company chooses Trefadder

Archer is a global oil services company with a 40-year history. Now they choose Trefadder to compensate for their emissions. In the fall of 2022, they were at Hagalid to kickstart their own climate forest and help capture CO2 from the atmosphere.

Senior communications advisor Line E. Askeland explains why this is important for Archer.

Why is the focus on climate and sustainability so important to Archer?

Archer as a company is committed to contributing to the ongoing energy transition and we believe it is important for all companies to have a real focus on sustainability, in order to solve the climate emissions challenges. We have a shared responsibility with the rest of the world, and have put sustainability on the agenda several years ago.

Why do you choose to offset your residual emissions?

The road to Net-Zero is a marathon, not a sprint. Our goal is to be climate neutral by 2050, and in that context, we are working purposefully and structured to reduce our energy needs and climate footprint. Through operational awareness and investment in renewable energy, such as solar and geothermal energy, we are reducing our climate footprint day by day, year by year. We compensate for the remaining emissions through tree planting and other initiatives.

What was the main reason why you chose tree planting when you were going to compensate?

We chose Trefadder as a partner, as forests bind CO2 in a good way and have a documented effect. Trefadder In addition, they have a high level of knowledge, they plant on guaranteed registered land, and the trees remain standing. We at Archer are proud contributors to the planting of climate forests.
